Hundreds of exuberant students cheered and waved signs of support for the Cops for Cancer team outside Kanaka Creek Elementary Wednesday morning, Sept. 16.
Signs like, “Go Cops Go, “Thank you, “Lets Beat Cancer!, “You Can Do This,” and “Keep Going” were only a snapshot of the handmade signs the students, in kindergarten to Grade 7, held up as the Tour de Coast team slapped hands while riding into the parking lot.
Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast is an annual event where police agencies and emergency service personnel cycle for eight days along the coast of BC, all the while raising money for childhood cancer research and support services at the Canadian Cancer Society.
Evy, a Grade 6 student at the school, who was celebrating her 11th birthday, said she was happy to cheer for the Tour de Coast members who are raising money for cancer research.
