Summer Learning

*The implementation of summer learning programs at all levels will be enrollment dependent *

Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District No. 42 is offering Summer Learning options for July 2020. SD42 Summer Learning will continue to follow the health and safety protocols successfully implemented in June to support the return to partial in-school instruction. All health and safety protocols will be followed at each site. Enrolment will determine if individual courses and programs will run. 

 

Summer Learning Grades K-6 (July 6 – July 22)

At elementary locations to be determined, Summer Learning K-6 will offer two days per week for each student at 50% of class size. Students will be assigned to a Monday-Tuesday Group OR a Wednesday-Thursday Group. No sessions will be held on Friday. Students should be ready for spending time outdoors, following good personal hygiene practices, and participating in engaging activities. Final site locations and programming decisions will be based on the number of students enrolled.

Grades 7 Transition ADST and Fine Arts (July 6 – July 17)

ADST and Fine Arts will be offered to Grade 7’s that are transitioning to secondary school this fall. Activities may include: game design, coding, metal and woodwork, theatre sports, and robotics. It is expected that students will be assigned to in-school groups and will have the opportunity to work at school two days per week (M/W or T/TH). Final program decisions and time structure are based on the number of students enrolled.

Grades 8-9 Literacy and Numeracy Skill Building (July 6 – 27)

Grade 8-9 Students are offered Numeracy and Literacy Skill Building courses based on a theme while focused on a positive engagement with teachers and learning and building skills to help this fall. Students in this program will participate in a blended model in which there will be some face-to-face time with their teacher in smaller class sizes and some remote learning in keeping with the stage 3 educational restart plan for partial in-school instruction. Final program decisions and time structure are based on the number of students enrolled.

Summer Learning Grades 10-12 – Academic Courses (July 6 – 27, varied times)

Grade 10-12 Students are offered all academic courses. Students in this program will participate in a blended model in which there will be some face-to-face time with their teacher in smaller class sizes and some remote learning in keeping with the stage 3 educational restart plan for partial in-school instruction. Final secondary structures and program decisions will be enrollment dependent.

Fast Track Online Summer Learning 2020 (secondary)
Wednesday, May 6 to Monday, July 27, 2020

Online registration is now open for our Fast Track Online Summer Learning classes for secondary students.

Priority will be given to those students who require core courses for graduation this June or elective courses for entrance into post-secondary in September.

The online courses run from May 6 to July 27, 2020.
