Hundreds of students at Yennadon Elementary pounded the pavement Friday, Sept. 26, all in the name of Terry Fox.
Students gathered by Grade and went out in rotation to jog along 128 Avenue for the school’s annual Terry Fox Run.
Principal Gary Lozinski said the whole school took part, 701 students.
Lozinski said before the run there were a lot of conversations in the school and activities that the students took part in to learn about the importance of the run.
“We have families in the school who are deeply impacted by cancer,” continued Lozinski, noting they had a parent come to the school and talk about their own experiences with their child and cancer.
Students, he said, showed compassion and understanding and they realize they are not only supporting families within the school community, but also beyond, and trying to contribute something.
