2016 Leaders of Tomorrow: Grace Hamilton, Fairview

Grace Hamilton is an amazing student leader at Fairview elementary.  She has spent her years at Fairview involved in many leadership opportunities inside the classroom, in extra-curricular activities and in the community.

Her teachers have always been able to rely on Grace in class.  She is willing to work with any of her classmates with a smile and enthusiasm.  Grace has been part of the student leadership team at Fairview.

She has participated in ‘Me to We’ Day, Student Forum, district student advisory council and acted as master of ceremonies for most of our student led assemblies. Her community involvement has also built around her swimming abilities. Grace is involved in swimming, and competes at a very high level in waterpolo.

Even though still in Grade 7 during the 2015-16 school year, Grace was invited to join the Garibaldi waterpolo team to participate in this years’ high school provincial tournament in which they took 2nd place! Grace also volunteers in the community at large, where she teaches swimming to young children in the summer at Hammond Pool.

Grace will be heading to Thomas Haney for high school and her goal is to earn a waterpolo scholarship to Stanford University. Grace spent some time as a patient with a serious medical condition at BC Children’s hospital as a child, and she would like to eventually pursue a career as a psychologist for a children’s hospital.

About Leaders of Tomorrow

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.

The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2015/16 school year – there are many others  who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom. ?

Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2016 Leaders of Tomorrow.
