Samuel Robertson Technical drama serves up a double feature of romance and mystery

Samuel Robertson Technical (SRT) drama is back with a double feature starring young and veteran performers alike.

This year’s show begins at a train station with Variations on a Theme, a 30-minute one-act play about unrequited love and the possible scenarios that play out in our heads before a big decision.

The second production, The Bold, The Young, and the Murdered, shifts to the world of television drama. Set on the stage of a soap opera, the murder mystery explores whether a group of self-centred actors can come together for one final episode — with the future of the show hanging in the balance.

More than 30 students across all grades are involved in the production, along with student alumni.

“Each year, the cast and crew gets bigger and bigger, and it’s really amazing for the future of drama at SRT,” said Eric Driscoll, the school’s drama/theatre teacher.

Variations on a Theme and The Bold, The Young, and the Murdered run Thursday, May 21, and Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Albion Community Centre, next to c̓əsqənelə Elementary.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the show starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at the Samuel Robertson Technical office. Tickets will also be sold at the door if available.

Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase during the evening shows (cash concession).

All proceeds go back into the school’s drama program and will help fund future costumes, set design and productions.
