This Valentine’s Day, you can enjoy a gourmet six-course meal in Maple Ridge for $60.

Just make reservations at Kitchen42, a new collaborative culinary effort between Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District chef-instructors and their students.

“Kitchen42 is a really cool concept. We wanted to showcase the passions and talent of our local culinary arts programs and to offer unique dining experiences to our entire school community,” explained Trevor Randle, chef-instructor at Maple Ridge Secondary. “This event is for anyone who may want to enjoy a very upscale Valentine’s dinner for a great price. It’s four chefs, six courses.”

The menu for the long table dinner, which will be hosted at Thomas Haney Secondary, includes Amuse Bouche, Beef Consommé, Charcuterie, Chicken Wellington, S’more and Mignardises.

“This is also a fundraiser for our students who will be attending a culinary tour of New York this spring break,” added Randle.

Kitchen42’s other participating chef-instructors are Brent McGimpsey (Garibaldi), Brian Smith (Thomas Haney), and Kyle Tillotson (SRT).

“We have four solid teaching kitchens in the district and I am very excited about this collaboration,” said Randle. “It’s a great opportunity for our student-chefs to cook for their friends, family and community members.”

Culinary Arts programs at SD42 are run in partnership with Vancouver Community College and provide a unique opportunity for secondary school students to complete Grade 12 graduation requirements while earning post-secondary credits and certification in the culinary arts industry.

In recent years, several SD42 student-chefs have earned top honours at Skills Canada provincial and national cooking competitions.

Kitchen42’s St. Valentine’s Day dinner at Thomas Haney Secondary takes place on February 14, 2020, starting at 6 pm. For tickets ($60 each), email Brent_McGimpsey@sd42.ca, Trevor_Randle@sd42.ca, Brian_Smith@sd42.ca, or Kyle_Tillotson@sd42.ca
