Garibaldi Secondary is hosting its fourth annual Arts Night on April 23, 2026, celebrating student creativity through culinary arts, visual art and live performances.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria, where culinary arts students will showcase an assortment of finger foods.
This is a “showcase of our incredible program,” said culinary arts teacher Brent McGimpsey. “An evening dedicated to the creativity of our students and the best of our recipes. [Come out and] celebrate the hard work of our students and explore a world of flavour.”
After grabbing a snack, guests can enjoy a visual arts exhibition featuring student artwork presented in a gallery-style setting.
“This is the one night of the year that the visual arts students can exhibit their art,” said Maureen Chand, visual arts teacher. “The students are very excited to exhibit their artwork in a gallery style and in a professional setting. It gives them a feel as to what it is like to exhibit art in a gallery-like setting and witness visitors taking the time to observe their art.”
At 7:30 p.m., students will take centre stage in the Garibaldi theatre for Coffee House performances.
“Coffee House is a vibrant open mic night that is put on by our students,” explained Beth Macdougall, a teacher who helps run the event. “In its fourth official year, student performers grace the stage with a variety of acts, including singing, stand-up comedy and poetry reading.”
Coffee House also features a concession stand full of homemade goods and student-made stickers.
“Students of all ages are welcome,” Macdougall added.
Admission is by cash donation at the main school entrance. All funds raised will support these arts programs.
