On August 10, 2016, the Minister of Education announced the new Student Transportation Fund. School districts can apply for the funding to help parents with transportation costs and services. School districts that currently charge a transportation fee for eligible riders must eliminate those fees to be eligible for the funding. The Board directed staff to prepare an application to access the $185,990 allocation for the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows school district. In order to access the Student Transportation Fund fees for eligible riders will be waived for 2016/17. Registration for Regular Student Transportation ends August 19, 2016.
