Regular Student Transportation 2021/22

Registration deadline: June 30, 2021

Please note that the COVID-19 Public Health Guidance for K-12 School Settings are encouraging private vehicle use and active transportation (biking, walking, etc.) by students where possible to decrease bus transportation density.

Regular student transportation is not guaranteed for eligible students who register after the June 30 deadline.

  • Parents/guardians of eligible students must register their children for regular student transportation.
  • Students registered for regular student transportation in the 2020/21 school year must reregister if they want this service for the 2021/2022 school year.
  • Registration is done online through the school district parent portal. Under “1. Residential address,” please use the address where you will be residing on Sept. 7, 2021.

Bus transportation is offered for eligible students attending:

  • Blue Mountain Elementary
  • Garibaldi Secondary
  • Highland Park Elementary
  • Pitt Meadows Secondary
  • Webster’s Corners Elementary
  • Whonnock Elementary

Eligibility

Eligible students for regular student transportation are defined as:

  • Resident primary students (Grades K-3) and their siblings attending the same school who live farther than 4 km from their catchment area school;
  • All other resident students (Grades 4-12) who live farther than 4.8 km from their catchment area school.

Please note that this does not include the French Immersion school catchment area.

Transportation fees

Transportation fees for 2021/22 are as follows:

  • First child —  $315
  • Second child — $315
  • Third child plus — $100

Families experiencing financial hardship will be eligible for a fee waiver under the Board’s hardship policy. The low-income waiver form is available on the school district website.

ALL FEES ARE DUE:  Aug. 15, 2021 (via credit card on the parent portal, or cash/cheque drop off at SD42 maintenance building on 23889 Dewdney Trunk Road).

If the school district is unable to offer student transportation services due to COVID-19 restrictions, any fees that have been collected will be fully refunded. Refunds will not be issued for partial use or partial availability of service.

Families who are experiencing financial hardship but do not qualify under the district hardship policy can contact the transportation department at transportation@sd42.ca to make alternate payment arrangements. Payment or alternate payment arrangements must be made prior to your child riding the bus.

Special needs riders can now also register on the Parent Portal. Fees for special needs riders are the same as those for eligible riders. Registration deadline is June 30, 2021.

Late registrants

Registrations received from eligible riders between July 1, 2021, and Aug. 31, 2021, will be considered late registrations. If there are available seats on existing routes, late registrants will be accommodated on a first come first seated basis.
