Take a jaunt through Sherwood Forest at Westview Secondary as students prepare to bring The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood to life – a classic tale with a comedic twist.
“Our students are excited to present a frantically funny, Monty Pythonesque retelling of the classic tale,” said April Allan, the school’s drama/theatre teacher.
The production includes 53 students from grades 8 to 12 who have been rehearsing since early September.
“The entire production is student driven, from the cast of characters, the set and prop design, to the lighting and sound,” said Allan.
Allan added that Grade 12 student director, Ava McKinley, has been working “tirelessly on blocking and staging all the different components.”
The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood follows the legendary hero on his quest as he encounters a quirky cast of characters, including a skin-condition-obsessed damsel in distress, a scheming sheriff, a wannabe gold-hoarding monarch, and two good-natured “Town’s Guys” who somehow turn up in every scene.
Evening performances of The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood run Feb. 26 and Feb. 27, 2026, at Westview Secondary. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at the Westview Secondary office at lunch, or before and after school. Tickets will also be sold at the door if available.
Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase during the evening shows (cash concession).
All proceeds go back into the school’s theatre program and will help fund future costumes, set design and productions.
