All schools will be closed today, December 17, 2025. The majority of our school buildings are currently without power, which has left our sites without heat or internal lighting. At many locations, the security shutters cannot be raised without power, further limiting visibility and access to natural light within the classrooms. 2017 Leaders of Tomorrow: Angelica Amado – Glenwood
During the 2016/17 school year, Angelica was new to our school, but fit in very well by involving herself in many areas of the school community. She has volunteered as an office monitor and is quick to offer her help when needed. She eagerly is involved in our school leadership group and has helped out raising funds for various organizations. Helping out the less fortunate is a passion of hers. Angelica is caring and a good friend to others. She is inclusive to all members of our school community. She goes out of her way to show kindness and respect to students regardless of age or ability. Angelica academically pushes herself to do her best by putting extra effort into her assignments. She was involved in our basketball and our volleyball team his year. She is intrinsically motived and is a bright light in our class and school.
About Leaders of Tomorrow
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2016/17 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2017 Leaders of Tomorrow.
