Whodunit? Thomas Haney Sightline Theatre presents Clue: On Stage

This dinner party is serving up murder and mystery, with a side of comedy.

The Thomas Haney Sightline Theatre Company is bringing you Clue: On Stage, a hilarious production based on the 1985 film that was inspired by the Hasbro board game of the same name.

“Anyone who sees the show will have a good time,” said Grade 12 student actor Joey Buonafede, who is playing the lead role of Wadsworth, the butler. “We had a fun time creating the mysteries and suspense.”

Six guests, each with their own secrets, are invited to dinner at a secluded mansion but the night takes a turn when their host ends up dead. Suddenly, they find themselves at the centre of a murder investigation – and they’re all prime suspects.

Clue: On Stage follows Wadsworth as he scrutinizes the guests – Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard – to find the killer.

“Everyone has put so much into it,” said Grade 10 student Danica Bouey, who is playing Miss Scarlet. “It’s suspenseful and has lots of surprises.”

About 50 students from grades 9 to 12 are working to put on the school production.

Svea (Jo) Silver, the Grade 12 student director, says the cast and crew have been rehearsing tirelessly since September.

“I’m so proud of my actors, they rolled with the punches and all the things that we have worked through together,” said Silver, who is directing instead of acting for the first time.

“It’s cool to see both sides of it, I definitely have a newfound appreciation for the crew,” she added.

Evening shows run Feb. 22, 23, 28, 29 and March 1, 2024. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with a showtime of 7 p.m.

There’s also a Saturday matinee on Feb. 24, with doors to open at 1:30 p.m. and curtain to rise at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Thomas Haney Secondary’s office or reserved online by emailing thsssightlinetheatre@gmail.com.
