2018 Leaders of Tomorrow: Lily Currie – Fairview

During the 2017/18 school year, Lily was a Grade 7 student at Fairview Elementary. Lily is an active participant throughout the school and her natural leadership qualities allow her to be counted on for anything.

Lily is a thoughtful, reliable, caring, and helpful person. For years, Lily has volunteered her time for office monitoring, primary lunch monitoring, and morning announcements. As a member of the leadership group, Lily has been involved in organizing many activities such as walk for water, spirit days, assemblies and a bake sale. She has also helped prepare the backpacks for the Starfish backpack program in our district. As Lily cares immensely about our school and the people in it, she is currently creating a mural for each of the change rooms in our gym so students have a positive message they can see every time they go in there.

Lily is also very involved in the volleyball, basketball, and track and field teams. While she is very competitive, she is also a very cooperative and respectful team player whom works well with anyone she plays with.

Outside of school, Lily is an active member of our community. She belongs to a track and field club, participates in aerial silks, and attends German school where she recently passed a test which put her at the equivalent of Grade 11 German. Throughout the year, Lily volunteers with the salvation army where she has helped serve food and be a bell ringer during the holiday season.

About Leaders of Tomorrow

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.

The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2017/18 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.

Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2018 Leaders of Tomorrow.
