2019 Leaders of Tomorrow: Rini Liu, Garibaldi

Rini Liu is an excellent role model and currently attends Garibaldi Secondary (2018-19). A Grade 10 honours student who loves to be involved, Rini makes many positive contributions to the school and the school culture.

In this school year alone, Rini is part of Link Crew, an organization that helps eighth graders transition into secondary school comfortably. She has been a member of Garibaldi’s Student Leadership/Student Government for almost three years, and is a student executive member in Garibaldi’s music program, in which has played the clarinet, the baritone saxophone, and currently plays the flute.

In Garibaldi’s most recent musical, Mamma Mia, Rini was a part of the ensemble. She describes it as an exceptional experience and is thankful to have been involved. Last year, Rini and three of her friends won the Youth Philanthropy Initiative, in which she advocated for and was granted $5,000 to donate to our local non-profit organization, One Way Club Society. Next year, Rini plans to continue her positive contributions to our school and will be taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma offered at Garibaldi Secondary.

About Leaders of Tomorrow

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.

The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2018/19 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom. Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2019 Leaders of Tomorrow.
