As another school year comes to a close for most of our schools, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our families for your partnership and support throughout the year.
Together, we have celebrated achievements, supported learning, navigated challenges, and created opportunities for students to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and personally. The success of our schools is strengthened by the strong relationships that exist between families, schools, and the broader community, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day. Some of the achievements of this past year are captured in our annual District Highlights magazine, which shares just a few of the inspiring stories from across our schools. I invite you to take a look: bit.ly/4eVZik1.
I would also like to thank the many parents and guardians who generously shared their time, energy, and talents to support students and schools. Whether through Parent Advisory Councils, volunteering at school events, supporting learning at home, attending performances and celebrations, or simply encouraging a child each day, your contributions make a meaningful difference.
As the school year concludes, I hope that students and families have an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments, reflect on growth, and enjoy a well-deserved summer break together. Summer offers time to rest, reconnect, explore new experiences, and create lasting memories.
While many students and staff begin their summer holidays, work across the district continues. Throughout the summer months, employees will be preparing schools and learning spaces, completing maintenance and capital projects, supporting summer programs, planning for the year ahead, and ensuring that our schools are ready to welcome students back in September.
On behalf of the Board of Education and all district staff, thank you for being part of our school community and for the many ways you support student success. We wish you and your family a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer.
We look forward to welcoming students back in September for another year of learning, growth, and opportunity.
I am also pleased to share a message from the Minister of Education and Child Care, Lisa Beare, who has written to families across the province to mark the end of the school year. You can read the Minister’s letter here: bit.ly/4xMrSvF.
Take care,
Teresa Downs
Superintendent of Schools
