Happy World Teachers’ Day

October 5, 2021 8:22 AM

Dear teachers,

World Teachers’ Day provides an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work of our teaching staff and the contributions you make to our school communities. While this formal recognition only happens once a year, we are grateful every day for your commitment to education and for ensuring the next generation of students are prepared for whatever the future holds. In acknowledgment of the essential role teachers have played during the pandemic and will continue to play in the post-pandemic recovery phase, this year’s World Teachers’ Day theme is “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.”

A teacher’s impact is long-lasting and profound. Your influence shapes the lives of children and extends outside the classroom, touching families, the local community, and beyond. The kindness, compassion, and care you have shown — particularly over the last 18 months — has made a positive difference in the lives of young people in our district. While I know there is more work to be done as we continue to navigate through the pandemic, I am deeply appreciative of all your hard work in supporting students, their families, and our school communities.

Sincerely,
Harry Dhillon
