Introduction

Wireless Onboarding

Need help connecting your wireless device? If the guides below don’t help, please submit a HelpDesk ticket or contact our IT HelpDesk at 604.466.6248.  We can offer support with:

Other devices are supported but School District No. 42 does not currently have guides available for them.  Our recommendation is to use one of the sections below and translate as necessary, as the process will be very similar.

Windows

(Note: your view may change slightly depending on exact version of your browser.)

  1. Open the list of available wireless networks and connect to SD42-Registration.

  2. Open a web browser such as Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer and enter wifi.sd42.ca in the address bar.
  3. Read and accept the acceptable use policy, then click start.
  4. Click on Username/Password to use your SD42 account to login and connect to the wireless network.

    Guest access via SMS is also available, and can be accessed by clicking here.

  5. Enter your SD42 username and password and then click continue.

    Staff: Firstname_Lastname
    Students: Student Number

  6. Download and Accept the Windows wizard, and run the application once the download has completed.
  7. A Cloudpath application window will launch to configure your device.
  8. When prompted install the certificate.
  9. A window will appear indicating a successful connection to the wireless network.
  10. Confirm that you are connected to the SD42-WLAN network.
Mac OS
  1. Connect to the ‘SD42-Registration’ wireless network.

  2. Open Safari and if it does not automatically direct you to the site, navigate to ‘wifi.sd42.ca’.

  3. Accept the Terms & Conditions and click next.

  4. For Staff/Students click ‘Username/Password’.

  5. Enter your SD42 username and password, then click ‘Continue’.

    Staff Username: Firstname_Lastname

    Student Username: Student Number

  6. Click ‘Download’.

  7. Click ‘Continue’ to proceed with the profile install.

  8. Click ‘Install’ to install the required certificate.

  9. Enter the computer admin credentials for your device.

  10. Verify that you are connected to the SD42-WLAN wireless network. If you aren’t click on it to connect.

iPhone/iPad

If you are having trouble with connecting to ‘SD42-Registration’ or otherwise need to remove the SD42 wireless profile from your device you follow these steps: Steps to remove profile.

  1. From your start screen, open the ‘Settings’ app.

  2. In Settings, press on Wi-Fi.

  3. Find ‘SD42-Registration’ in the wireless list and press on it.

  4. Once you see that you are connected to the ‘SD42-Registration’ wireless network, press your home button to return to the home screen.

  5. Open the ‘Safari’ app.

  6. Browse to ‘wifi.sd42.ca’

  7. Accept the Terms & Conditions, and then press ‘Start’.

  8. For staff/students press on Username/Password.

  9. Enter your SD42 username and password, then press ‘Continue’.

    Staff Username: Firstname_Lastname

    Student Username: Student Number

  10. Press on ‘Allow’.
  11. Press on ‘Close’.
  12. Open the Settings app.
  13. Select the General Settings menu option.
  14. Choose the Profiles menu option.
  15. Expand the SD42-Onboard profile menu option.
  16. Press the Install button.
  17. Enter your phone pin code to allow the installation.

    If you do not have a pin code set on your phone you will not see this screen.

  18. Press on ‘Install’ when prompted to install the root certificate.

  19. Press on ‘Install’ to verify you want to install the certificate.

  20. Press on ‘Done’ to exit out of the profile installer.

  21. Press your home button to return to the home screen.

  22. Open the ‘Settings’ app.

  23. If ‘SD42-WLAN’ is not your currently connected network, press on it in the list.

  24. Once you see that you are connected to ‘SD42-WLAN’ you’re done!

Android

Basic Steps

1. Connect to SD42-Registration

2. Open ‘wifi.sd42.ca’ in a web browser

Guest Access
  1.  From a web browser, navigate to https://wifi.sd42.ca
  2.  Check the box to agree to the Terms & Conditions, then click ‘Start >’
  3.  Select ‘Guest Access’
  4.  Enter your mobile phone number in the space provided.  You will receive a 7-digit verification code by text message
  5.  Enter the Verification Code in the space provided
  6.   Follow the prompts in the wizard to install the required certificates and connect to the SD42-WLAN network.
