A Maple Ridge teacher is going to treat her family to a dream vacation after winning a travel voucher from Maple Ridge Chrysler.
When Maple Ridge Chrysler owner Ian Speckman called Julia Coustol in mid January to tell her she'd won a $12,500 travel voucher, she was a little skeptical given the scams out there.
But after googling Speckman's name, she realized the call was legitimate and phoned him back.
Coustol, a support teacher at Kanaka Creek Elementary, came to the Chrysler dealership by the Golden Ears Bridge on Tuesday afternoon to collect the large cheque worth $12,500 along with her daughter Madison Gueho.
Anyone who got their car serviced across Canada between Jan. 1 and Dec. 25 at any Auto Canada dealerships, of which there are 26 across the country, was able to enter the draw to win a $12,500 travel voucher.
Coustol came into the Auto Canada service centre located at Maple Ridge Chrysler to get an oil change and a tire, brake, and battery maintenance in April for her Dodge Caravan, and then entered the "$25,000 Dream Vacation Giveaway" contest online.
Coustol said she likes to travel and 10 years ago she took her children to Mexico, but vacations for her family are usually low key.
"We usually do road trips - that's more in our budget," Coustol said.
Coustol plans to take her whole family, including her partner George and their children Madison, Ace, Liz and grandchild Keoki to Hawaii with the travel voucher.
Then she and her partner plan to travel to Bali, which is their dream vacation.
Coustol was one of two winners in the Auto Canada competition - the other winner lives in Edmonton.
