2017 Leaders of Tomorrow: Chaylynn Pomfrey – Highland Park

During the 2016-17 school year, Chaylynn was a Grade 7 student at Highland Park Elementary in Pitt Meadows. She is on the school leadership committee, where she organizes spirit days and fundraisers, runs assemblies, and volunteers for every event happening in the school. Chay is also a beloved big buddy to a kindergarten student; together they do art, read, and play together. Once a month, she represents her school at DSAC (District Student Advisory Council), where she participates in community-building and leadership activities.

Outside of school, Chaylynn plays soccer on a Division 1 team for the West Coast Soccer Club. Every Tuesday night is soccer practice, and every Sunday she has a game. In addition to her own team, she volunteers to teach younger players twice a week. She likes hanging out with friends, and camping with family.

About Leaders of Tomorrow

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.

The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2016/17 school year – there are many others  who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.

Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2017 Leaders of Tomorrow.
