Celebrating National Aboriginal Day

On June 21, Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District students and staff joined the rest of the country in celebrating National Aboriginal Day.

A variety of special events took place across the school district, including a performance by the Semoya Dancers at Albion Elementary (pictured above), a presentation by Dallas Yellowfly at Garibaldi Secondary and a celebration of traditional activities at Edith McDermot Elementary.

“Our Aboriginal Education team and schools created an exciting array of experiences for all of our students to learn about and celebrate our First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples,” said Diane Graves, SD42 Principal Aboriginal Education.
