The Bridge Program was designed by SD42 for students in Kindergarten to Grade 7 who are NOT attending school or attending only sporadically. Student Support Services and Child and Youth Mental Health work together with families to provide a wrap-around program to develop options and remove barriers so that the student can continue with a successful educational program.
Background

Goal
| The mutual goal to be achieved by students, parents, program leaders and the student's neighbourhood school is for a positive reintegration into school. It is a wrap-around program that needs participation and commitment from parents, who must engage in both the educational and the supportive components of the program. |
Application Process

Student Support

A school counsellor and a child and youth mental health clinician will be available to support students. A "Superflex" group, which teaches flexible thinking, will be offered to students in addition to other types of supportive groups. Computer software such as Em Wave - a biofeedback program - will also be available for individual student use.
Parent Support
A school counsellor and a Child and Youth Mental Health clinician will be available to support parents. Parents will have the opportunity to participate in a "Connect" parent group, which is a 10-week program designed to support parents and caregivers of students with behavioural and emotional challenges.
Presentations on topics of interest will also be offered to parents.
