Day of Mourning: SD42 honours those who have lost their lives in work-related incidents

April 25, 2019 3:31 PM

In Canada, the national Day of Mourning is observed on April 28 each year to remember workers who have been killed, injured or suffered occupational disease on the job.

Last year in British Columbia 131 workers lost their lives to workplace injury or disease.

On Friday, April 26 at 11am the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District will observe one minute of silence to recognize those who have been injured by accidents or disease and mourn those who have died from workplace accidents or disease.

Please join us in paying tribute to fallen workers and raising awareness about creating healthy and safe workplaces. For more information about the Day of Mourning in BC, visit: http://www.dayofmourning.bc.ca/
